Parking Lot. Westchester, May 2011.
I’m still ploughing my way through the hundreds of photographs that make up the raw material for my ‘When All Is Said And Done…’ project, and the more I look at those shots, the more it becomes apparent that my reasons for shooting the things I do are at least partly hidden from me. It is only now, during the long and agonizing editing process, that I start to see what this thing really is. I’ve always known what is is about in a general sense, but seeing the patterns and progression of the subject matter at some level of remove is the thing that allows it to coalesce into something meaningful. It is a fascinating process, and one I feel only partly in control of; the work makes it’s own form, I guess.

I completely agree; we are not as aware as we think of, of what triggers us to press the shutter button. It is indeed hidden and it ‘shows’ through the photographs. I’m obsessed with parking lots, really like this one. Well done.
